Smoother Skin Today with Dermaplaning

Smooth Out Your Skin Today

As we age, one of the many changes we come to notice is how our face has aged and changed since we were younger. It may now have some peach fuzz, look dry, or simply just look older. With the help of dermaplaning treatments, you can go back to the face you remember – young-looking, vibrant, and smooth skin. The dermatologists at Dermatology & Mohs Surgery Institute can provide dermaplaning treatments for you. Let’s take a look at what a dermaplaning treatment is and its benefits.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a cosmetic service that helps remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz, or unwanted facial hair. An exfoliating blade is used by a dermatologist to remove the skin cells and peach fuzz. Thus, leaving your face smooth and vibrant. It can also help remove deep acne scarring. Dermaplaning can be done on any skin type and on males or females. It can also be an add-on to a chemical peel or microdermabrasion. The results you will experience are less surface wrinkles, improved skin texture and evening out your skin tone. Before your treatment, discuss dermaplaning with your dermatologist. They can analyze your skin and answer any questions you may have.

What to Expect Before and After Treatment

The treatment begins with the dermatologist dragging the exfoliating blade slowly across your skin, similar to shaving. They will wipe the skin and peach fuzz away as it comes off. This is repeated until your entire face and much of your neck has been treated. The treatment is painless and takes up to 30 minutes. Once they are done with the exfoliating blade, the dermatologist will put on a soothing cream to help provide moisture back into your face. After treatment, there is little downtime needed. Expect to have a red face for the night. It is recommended you avoid the sun for at least one week after treatment as it will delay you from experiencing the full results. Within two days after treatment, you will see the full effect and results of dermaplaning. Your skin will be smoother than it ever has been, and you will have a new, youthful look to show off. Results will last for nearly two months, but treatments will need to be continued since results are not permanent.

Cost of Dermaplaning

Since dermaplaning is a cosmetic service, it is often not covered by insurance. This is important to keep in mind as each treatment would need to be paid for out-of-pocket. To continue to have the results of dermaplaning, treatments will need to be continued every eight to ten weeks. Each treatment will cost between $125 and $250. While it may seem expensive to keep up with, the results make the treatment more than worth it for most patients.
