About Wynn Kao, M.D.

Dr. Wynn Kao is a board-certified dermatologist who graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard Medical School. Following medical school and surgical internship, he completed his residency at the University of Puerto Rico, where he led an international team of researchers to multiple publications in clinical studies of melanoma.

As an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at George Washington University, in the nation’s capital, and subsequently at Mt. Sinai in New York, he continued to see patients from all over the world and to publish additional articles on the molecular genetic mechanisms of skin cancer. He was honored to serve as personal dermatologist for several members of Congress and State Department.

His clinical interests include skin cancer detection and surveillance, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne/rosacea, and an array of injections ranging from biologics to botox and fillers.
His interests outside the office include American History, 5K road races, swimming, jazz piano, and blues guitar.

Dr. Kao is proud to call Bloomington-Normal home since 2017. He has always been dedicated to treating patients like family- with kindness, respect, and attention to detail – just as he, his wife and daughter have been welcomed with open arms here in Central Illinois.
