How Mature Skin Can Benefit From These Top Treatments

It is never too late to start a new or updated skin routine and mature skin can still benefit from anti-aging and wrinkle treatments. Fortunately, there are many different treatments available based on the results you are looking for. Whether you choose to have multiple treatments or just one, you will be able to achieve your desired results. The dermatologists at Dermatology & Mohs Surgery Institute are here to offer treatment ideas and provide these treatments for you. Learn more about how dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, laser treatment for pigmented spots, and fillers can help achieve youthful skin.

How to Treat Aging Skin

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning treatments are successful for any age and any kind of skin. It is best for removing light wrinkling, improving skin texture, evening out skin tone, and removing peach fuzz. A dermatologist will use a dermaplaning blade directly on the skin. It removes up to three weeks of dead skin cells in addition to any peach fuzz. After the treatment, your skin will look refreshed and feel unbelievably smooth. Results last up to two months and treatments will need to be continued to keep seeing results.

Microdermabrasion

Another treatment for mature skin is microdermabrasion. It is an effective light peel that helps eliminate fine lines, wrinkles, and acne. The procedure is minimally abrasive, but effective resulting in younger and brighter looking skin. Microdermabrasion treatments will need to be scheduled regularly to continue seeing results.

Laser Treatment for Pigmented Spots

As we age, pigmented spots become more apparent. Laser treatments help vaporize unwanted melanin and to lighten pigmented spots when the skin absorbs the light energy from the laser. The result is lighter or completely removed pigmented spots on our skin. More than one treatment may be needed to achieve your desired results.

Fillers

As we age the skin loses its elasticity. To help combat this, cheek fillers and lip fillers are both great options that offer different results based on what you are hoping to achieve. The most common fillers are Juvederm and Restylane. Juvederm is used to add volume to lips, fill in forehead lines or help lift the face up, often around the mouth and nose. A needle containing hyaluronic acid is injected into the lips, forehead, or wherever the procedure is taking place. This results in plumper lips, reduced wrinkles, or fuller cheeks. Results last up to one year, but Juvederm will need to be kept up to continue seeing results.

Like Juvederm, Restylane uses hyaluronic acid to provide plump lips and fuller cheeks. The area of injection is numbed, and then hyaluronic acid is injected. While Restylane is like Juvederm there is a difference in how long results last. Results last for six months but can last up to 18 months if two rounds of the injection are done over the course of nine months.
